British Airways cabin crew begin 5-day strike

British Airways cabin crews began a five-day strike Monday to protest cost-cutting changes at the loss-making airline, forcing it to scrap almost half its flights out of London’s Heathrow Airport. A further two walkouts are planned by the Unite union if the long-running dispute is not resolved — an increasingly likely eventuality after weekend talks broke down in acrimony. BA said it plans to carry 70 percent of booked passengers over the strike period, with flight schedules at Gatwick and London City airports unaffected by the walkout.

I have flown to Samara as well as to many other russsian cietis from either western european cietisor from other russian airports. Although I generally agree with you with the lack of safety on russian aeroplanes, i have never seen babushkas with hens and so on (certainly not from a flight out of Frankfurt). The habit of praying before a flight is something which is doneprior to start any journeys whether by car, bus, aeroplane or even by foot (if it is a long slog).Do not characterise people the way you do as you do show a lot of ignorance of habits.Laughing and the applause bit happens also when western aeroplanes land, so it is not restrictedto Russian aeroplanes only. I could tell you many stories when travelling on flights originating fromWestern european cietis or USA airports too. You seem to forget that all world is just a village.I am not Eastern European.

Steve Crowe - Hey Ann, These are ACE!We met up with The AA', as I will now refer to them, on their way back up North after the shoot and they were so excited about the whole thing. Me, well I'm a bit of a titaidionalrst, or should I say I WAS a titaidionalrst until I saw the shots! I think they're fantastic! Who knew that a chance meeting at our wedding would lead to two bears being let loose in the Cotswolds?!Of course, I favour the shots that Andy has the head on!!Great work!November 24, 2011 11:31 pm

That's a great idea. Every time I need to book a flight it's too much trulobe searching many different sites for the best flight. I can see me flying with all kinds of airlines I'd never heard of using this!

A strike in this day and age is economic suicide. The cabin crew are paid nearly twice as much as other UK airlines. This is driven by greed. If they are not careful, they will finish BA and then they will all be out of work - not a very clever situation.
